About MLC Mun Event

Model United Nations, also known as MUN, is a conference during which students simulate the committees of the United Nations. The conference is organized by a high school of a university. MUN gives participants the opportunity to step into the shoes of representatives of the members of the United Nations, giving them an opportunity to attempt to solve the many issues faced by the United Nations.

Every student represents a country or a non-governmental organization (NGO) as a delegate. All delegates from a particular country or NGO form a delegation. The number of delegations represented by a school depends on the numbers of participating students participating form said school. The delegates are placed in the committees, representing their delegation.

There are 6 committees, including the General Assemblies and the Security Council. Each committee has an overall theme, this theme is represented in the issues dealt with by the committee. A committee usually deals with two or three issues. There are committees for the least experienced delegates, such as the General Assemblies. There are also committees for more experienced delegates, for example the Security Council. MUN is about more than just debating. Of course there are the necessary preparations before the conference starts. MUN also has a great social aspect, participating is a golden opportunity to meet new people and forge new friendships.

MLC MUN is an acronym for Maaslandcollege Model United Nations. This year will be the first year that MLC MUN will be held for external delegates.
